 Clairifications for HIGH POINT 2008

For Class A, when entering High Point, please note that it is $15 per division per horse.  For example, if you show in Hunter Pleasure and Sport Horse, it will be $30 for the horse to be entered and get an award in both.

For Division B, enter as you have in the past based on the sex of the horse.

For Sport horse division you can count classes--under saddle, in hand, and jumping!

2008 Missouri Arabian High Point Program

PURPOSE - To recognize, honor and encourage the showing and promotion of the Arabian horse.

SCOPE - The Missouri Arabian Horse Association offers high point awards in the following divisions to the horse accumulating the greatest number of points in AHA & USEF recognized shows:

For Class A only--awarded to horse based on discipline, Exhibitor by age split, and Novice Rider.

Purebred--Hunter Pleasure, Western Pleasure, Country/English Pleasure, Sport Horse, Dressage Horse, and Specialty Horse (Native Costume, Side Saddle, Halter), and Junior Horse (Any seat).

Partbred--Hunter Pleasure, Western Pleasure, Country/English Pleasure, Sport Horse, Dressage Horse, and Specialty Horse (Native Costume, Side Saddle, Halter) and Junior Horse (Any Seat).

Amateur & Junior Exhibitors-- 18 & Over, 14-17, 13 & Under, Novice Rider--See Regulations below.

For Class B only--Horses awarded based on gender: Purebred Stallions, Purebred Mares, Purebred Geldings, Partbred Mares, Partbred Geldings & Junior Horse.

Amateur and junior exhibitors accumulating the greatest number of points in horse shows, endurance and competitive trail rides, dressage shows and recreational riding under regulations as set forth below:

REGULATIONS -

1. High Point awards will be divided into separate divisions: Division A, B, C, D. Amateur Exhibitor--18 & Over, Divisions A and B, and Junior Exhibitor--13 & under and 14-17, Divisions A and B; Junior Horse, Divisions A and B; and Novice Rider, Divisions A and B.

2. Division A will be for only horse shows and dressage shows that are both USEF and AHA approved. Division B will be for all other horse shows and dressage shows. Division C will be for all endurance and competitive rides. Division D will be the Recreational Riding Division (A log is kept of hours spent riding as a horse/rider team at events not recognized by AHA, USAE, CEF, AERC, NATRC, 4H, etc. Examples of time that could be logged for this division is Drill Team Riding, riding in parades, pleasure riding, trail riding, riding and schooling lessons. Amateur Exhibitor - 18 & Over will be separated into the following two categories: Division A, Division B. Junior Exhibitor will be separated into the following four categories: Division A, Division B; and age groups 13 & Under and 14-17. Junior Horse will be for any Purebred or Partbred horse that is 5 & under. Novice Rider will be for any Exhibitor who has shown 3 years or less and has not won any Regional or National Placings.

3. High Point awards will be given to the High Point Champion and Reserve Champion. Ribbons will be awarded from 1st through 6th place in each category except Amateur and Junior Exhibitor, which will be awarded 8 places. Points must be accumulated to be eligible for an award or ribbon in any Division.

4. Each category must have a minimum of three (3) entries. Partbred mares and geldings will be combined if there are not sufficient nominations for two (2) categories. The Junior Exhibitor age categories will be combined if there are not sufficient nominations for two (2) categories. The Junior Exhibitor Division A and/or Division B will be dropped for a given year if there is not a minimum of three (3) nominations. This will also apply to the Amateur Exhibitor category.

5. Junior Exhibitor awards are for those members who have not reached their 18th birthday as of December 1, 2007. Points may be accumulated from any class. (Junior Exhibitor points may be counted only when showing a registered pure of partbred Arabian horse or pony.) Amateur Exhibitor awards are for those members over the age of 18 years. Points may be accumulated from any class, with the exception of Leadline. (Amateur Exhibitor points may be counted only when showing a pure or partbred Arabian horse or pony.

6. Points earned in all equitation, showmanship, horsemanship, grooming classes and Leadline classes will not count toward the horse's point total.

7. Only registered pure and/or partbred Arabian horses owned or on lease to MAHA members may compete for the High Point awards.

8. It is entirely the member's responsibility to see that the High Point Chairman receives the point information. Placings must be sent, correctly marked, on the MAHA High Point Form. Attached to the form must be the premium list or show bill for Class B Shows only. If the premium list or show bill is unavailable, verification in writing from a show or trail ride official is required stating the show name, ride name, date of show, class and placings for Divisions B. One form for each amateur/junior or horse for each Division. Division A must be listed separately from Division B.

9. Points count for: DIVISIONS A, B, C & D, Amateurs and Juniors, from December 1st, 2007 through November 30th, 2008. Nomination fees must be paid before points will be counted - see Rule 13. All points must be postmarked by November 30th in order to accommodate a January annual meeting.

10. Each rider will be allowed to send in their five (5) best shows for the season in Division A. This also applies to the horse's five (5) best shows for Division A. Multiple shows being held consecutively, or in conjunction with another show at the same facilities are to be counted separately. All Division A Results will be verified with the AHA Website.

In Division B each rider will be allowed to send in their best fifteen (15) shows for the showing season. This also applies to the horse's best fifteen (15) shows for Division B. These points will be sent in toward the end of the season and must be postmarked by November 30th. Show bills must be attached to the recording form.

11. Junior Exhibitors must be a Junior member of MAHA in good standing. Amateur Exhibitors must be an Amateur member of MAHA in good standing.

12. Dressage and Hunter & Jumper points will apply to Division A and B using the same rules as applied to the other classes.

13. A nomination fee of $15.00 per horse per Division and $10.00 per Amateur and Junior is to be filed with an appropriate entry blank and sent to the High Point Chairman. The deadline for nominations is April 30th for 2008 (postmarked).

14. In the event that a question arises regarding the interpretation of these regulations, the decision of the High Point Chairman and Committee shall be final.

15. Scoring will be as follows:

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP CLASSES (DIVISION A)

A horse named National Champion will receive 75 points, Reserve Champion will receive 50 points, and a Top Ten will receive 25 points. A horse will be awarded 5 points for each "cut" leading to the Top Ten Competition.

REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP CLASSES (DIVISION A)

A horse named Regional Champion will receive 30 points.

Reserve Regional Champion will receive 20 points and a Top Five will receive 10 points.

ALL OTHER CLASSES (DIVISION A & B)

1st - 6 pts. · 2nd - 5 pts. · 3rd - 4 pts. · 4th - 3 pts. · 5th - 2 pts. · 6th - 1 pt.

CHAMPIONSHIP STAKE CLASSES(DIVISION A & B)

1st - 8 pts. • 2nd - 7 pts. 3rd - 6 pts. • 4th - 5 pts.  5th - 4 pts. • 6th - 3 pts. 7th - 2 pts. 8th - 1 pts.

DANISH SYSTEM (Division B)

1st - 3 pts.

2nd- 2 pts.

3rd - 1 pt.

A HALTER CHAMPION OF A SHOW WILL RECEIVE 8 POINTS AND RESERVE WILL RECEIVE 7 POINTS. HIGH POINT HORSE OF SHOW WILL RECEIVE 8 POINTS AND RESERVE HIGH POINT HORSE WILL RECEIVE 4 POINTS.

EQUITATION CLASSES ANY AGE (DIVISION A OR B)

1st - 8 pts.  2nd - 7 pts.  3rd - 6 pts.  4th - 5 pts.  5th - 4 pts.  6th - 3 pts.  7th - 2 pts.  8th - 1 pt.

ENDURANCE & COMPETITIVE TRAIL RIDES (DIVISION C)

1st - 6 pts.   2nd - 5 pts.   3rd - 4 pts.   4th - 3 pts.   5th - 2 pts.   6th - 1 pt.

• Completion of Ride - 1 point

• Best Conditioned Horse or Sweepstakes Award Winner of a Ride - 6 points

• National Championship points - same as in other Divisions

• No points count for horsemanship awards, unless Amateur or Junior Exhibitor.

• Points may be sent in letter form or on AHA Official form.

17. Recreational Riding Division: Enrollment fee - $10 per horse/Rider combination. Log hours spent riding together at events not recognized by AHA, USAE, CEF, AERC, NATRC, 4-H, etc. Events include, but are not limited to, trail riding, lesson, parades, drill teams, etc, but NOT horse shows. NOTE: COUNT ONLY THE HOURS YOU ACTUALLY SPENT RIDING YOUR HORSE!
